Looking Forward to 2021 with the Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen

Entries to the 2021 Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen open on Tuesday 31 March, at 12:00. The first UCI stage race of the year will maintain its February date, taking place from the 4th to the 7th, next year. Dryland Event Management, the race’s organisers, are eager to provide some positive news during this difficult period and have thus put in place a number of benefits for would-be entrants, including locking the entry fee to that of the 2020 edition’s race.

“Firstly, we’d like to ensure all that their entry fees to the 2021 Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen will be refunded, in full, should the race be cancelled due to Covid-19” Henco Rademeyer assured. The Dryland Event Management director continued: “The physical and mental health of our participants are of the utmost importance to us, Momentum Medical Scheme, Biogen and the race’s other sponsors. Personally, I know that if I have an event to train for and look forward to, it helps me stay motivated. We’d like to provide an opportunity to maintain that motivation through the Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen, as well as the other races we organise.”

Dryland Event Management also have other benefits in store for 2021 entrants. The entry fee has been locked at the 2020 price. Riders who enter in the first month will also be rewarded with a Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen cap and cycling jersey.

“We, as Dryland, look forward to hosting mountain bikers from around the world in the Koue Bokkeveld every year” Rademeyer added. “The race has built a reputation for being tough but rewarding. Boasting some of the best singletrack in the country the riding is spectacular, and thanks to our local route gurus the trails get better every year. Mountain bikers come to race Kaleo’s growing network of trails, the Witzenberg Valley and the iconic singletracks through the sandstone arches of the Houdenbek Trails. But they also come to challenge themselves up the Merino Monster, arguably the toughest climb in a South African mountain bike race.”

“Kaleo Manor provides the perfect race village from which to embark on each day’s racing” Rademeyer reflected. “The food is incredible. As crew we leave the race a little bit heavier than when we arrived and I suspect a few riders do too. But Kaleo offers more than just delicious boere kos catering, there are burgers for the riders after each stage and all the export grade DUTOIT fruit you could wish to eat, plus relaxing chill zones. Set under old oak trees, the race village is shady and sheltered. One of the unofficial, official features of the race is the fact that riders pull their mattresses out of their tents and enjoy afternoon naps in the shade.”

Mountain bikers wishing to enter the 2021 Momentum Medical Scheme Tankwa Trek presented by Biogen are advised to do so soon. Not only to take up the first month’s special, which runs until the 30th of April 2020, but also because the race has been sold out for each of the last two editions. The standard entry package, which boasts the same entry fee as for the 2020 edition, includes four exceptional days of mountain biking, three nights’ tented accommodation, all meals from Thursday evening to Sunday lunch and official race apparel. There are team and solo entry options, as well as luxury upgrade packages for luxury camping, mobile homes or luxury rooms. Supporter meal packages are also available.
